GUSTAFSSON:IBRAHIMOVIC COULD HAVE CUT IN MMA

Alex Gustafsson, Swedish light-heavyweight UFC starsaysZlatan Ibrahimovic, Manchester United’s star player could have gone on to make the cut in the MMA.

Ibrahimovic, who formerly featured for Sweden on the international scene, had the plans of becoming an MMA Fighter while growing up but his dad wanted him to study law

Last year, Ibrahimovic who is a staunch MMA fan, was called out by Danny Roberts, the 6ft welterweight British UFC fighter after he heard of his taekwondo skills.

It was in 2015 that Ibrahimovic revealed his love for a fighting career in the octagon, which was dashed due to his father’s insistence on him forging a career in the law field.

Gustafsson was pleased by the Swede’s football star player’s Premier League success, one which was in no way surprising to him.

The 30-year-old Mauler said:

“I am not surprised, he is one of the best football players in the world and he just shows what he is capable of at Manchester United. He is a strong guy and he is a fighter too.

“Could he have been a UFC fighter? Who knows, maybe. He is a footballer and that is what he does best but he is strong guy, he is tall and he is a fighter on the field, so perhaps yes.”

Zlatan and his team mates carted home the Europa League title on Wednesday night at the Friends Arena which is a 17 minute drive from where Gustafsson would be fighting this weekend at The Ericsson Globe.

While Gustafsson is yet to request the presence of his fellow countryman at his fight over the weekend, he is hoping that whether the star player comes or not, he can get his full support.
