IT TAKES AN ARMY TO BUILD A CHAMPION – ANGELA LEE

Angela Lee, ONE Championship fighter and the youngest ever world champion is unique for quite a number of reasons.


One of these reasons is her coaching team and training partners, which sets her apart from most of the other fighters.

In the Lee household, MMA is a family affair with Angela’s both parents highly respected in their own right as mixed martial artists.

At the United MMA in Hawaii, Angela’s father, Ken Lee serves as the MMA and BJJ head coach. He has also been in charge of the ISJA Canadian Sports Jujitsu Association and the Canadian Sport Jujitsu Team.

Her mother, Jewelz Lee is never someone to mess around with. She is a fifth Degree Total Defense System Black Belt Instructor, a second degree Taekwondo Black Belt Instructor and a fifth degree Hapdosool (combined martial arts). All these make her someone not to be taken lightly. Read more »

WTF LAUNCHES BIDDING PROCESSES FOR ITS NEXT EVENTS

The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has started three distinct bidding processes for its events in 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2024 accordingly, as the Federation continues to apply a more systematic and collaborative technique for staging its events.


The registration, application, evaluation and selection stages for the bidding process for games in 2017 and 2018 will hold between January and March 2017 with the selection of hosting cities to take place at the WTF Extraordinary Council Conference in Bangkok, Thailand on 7 March 2017.

The Host cities for the events between 2018 and 2019 would be made known in Muju, Korea on 22 June 2017, before the WTF’s flagship event, the World Taekwondo Championships.

The procedure for choosing host cities for the 2019-2024 events shall be prolonged with interested prospective hosts invited to be present at an invitational workshop titled “the Partnership Workshop” in Muju in June 2017. The real bidding process will then formally commences with the bid registration in July 2017 and goes all through to the selection of the host cities at the WTF Council Conference in the first half of 2018. Olympic Preparations By Taekwondo Fighters Of South Korea

South Korean Olympic Taekwondo fighters laughed and had loads of fun as they prepared for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Games a few months back.


The light hearted and fun loving nature of the Taekwondo fighters was seen even when only 100 days were left for the Rio Olympics to begin. There was a media day organized by the Olympic Committee of Korea in Seoul at the National training center. The coaches along with the players were present to take part in the press conference and the athletes engaged themselves in the open training sessions.

Well, it is quite surprising to see smiles and laughter during training sessions, especially when there is tough competition, but the fighters are all prepared and Kim Tae-Hun will be competing in the 58kg divisions of men with Jun Gwang-Chae as his coach. The national team head coach Park Jong-man said that he knows the kind of pressure dealt by his team during competitions. There is no denying that South Korea is the place where Taekwondo originated and it has won 10 gold medals and overall 14 medals at the Olympics and has performed better than other nations.
